The Imp Does His Job Well!

Writer's picture: Always GracefulAlways Graceful

Think of this God uses the devil to keep us close!

Last year when I acknowledged Ministry elevation mentally and out loud, I started to look at words differently. While joking just this evening about Greek, Hebrew, and Aramaic trust I am comfortable in my English realm. Words that we have given much power need to be retired or put in place firmly. While I know the devil is real, I will berate and scream at it, place its head between my hands and clap as hard as possible, then as the old saints said stomp on its head. One thing that I encourage people about often is to belittle the devil as it often tries to do with us. In doing all of that I have stop saying that word and made it like the European myth symbol an imp. I enjoy the meaning of imp and feel more powered as it refers to a small, mischievous devil, thing, or spirit. It is important to know that the imp does its job well therefore no need to magnetize its function or making it famous.

As we enter this next week of Lent, I want you to think on the things you know were test, trials, and tribulations thus far. Please know that we are all human and subject to the tricks of the imp because out of everyone I personally know it always masters its own expectations. It is a true perfectionist however, we know the Perfect One, personally! This week was rough for several reasons especially those I spoke with on this Lenten journey. In my natural and spiritual psyche, I want to believe the imp was up for promotion because it tried so many with the smallest of things. One day I will do my job as well as the imp (major merit increase, lol). How did you feel when you felt nauseous, could not get rid of the migraine, the car would not start, when your boss came for you, when your spouse said the wrong thing, when the children could not grasp a concept, and when you just wanted some “me” time yet remembered you truly make the household run smoothly? The imp thought it had conquered another function. God knew you could handle it all because you stopped, refocused, and continued in prayer. Then the imp came for another round.

I was frustrated, enraged, agitated, and sullen about the situations of the week. I felt as if I was screwed, needing all the situations to be fixed and immediately. The best thing about trusting God is knowing that your time and His time are so far apart yet you learn patience and how to be graceful. The imp however knows our triggers no matter how graceful we want to appear. Our merit comes when we continue to fear God and shun all evil. We need to remain faithful even in the face of travesty and calamity in our home, on our job, our mind, and our government. The imp does his job well because it is an arguer and troublemaker. It questions authority, is tricky enough to make us question our morals and values. The imp makes us uncomfortable, therefore the advantage is that we stay before God in prayer.

While the imp is busy making us believe we are sick, inadequate, despondent, dreadful, subservient, and just downright overwhelmed, we must tune it out as best we can. Don’t allow these tricks to forget our Father in Heaven is still working on our behalf. No matter how angry we get we must continue to accept God’s authority. We should still appeal to God and believe that God can and will act to make all things right again. No need to curse God when the lil imp is just that tiny and we serve a Great BIG God who shall never abandon or fail us. No matter the task completed by the imp for its lil enjoyment know that God is the decider and will always fix the things we cast upon Him.
