Encouragement for This Lenten Season!

Writer's picture: Always GracefulAlways Graceful

As we have started the Lenten Season for 2022, I simply wanted to share a word of encouragement with you to remind yourself during these next 40 days to focus on Jesus. Allow me to remind you that God may bring His people into conditions we often don't know what to do. He does this so we will know what He can do at all times. The promise is simple He is always with us.

The month of February presented in my life death, hurt, stress, war, and birth. If I had known that all of that would have been a factor I would have opted not to do Lenten this year and simply relax. However, I have noticed for me personally the imp always shows up when God is working therefore this consecrated time of fast, prayer, and focus is much needed. As a result I must tell you about Jesus. After-all He is the One of great encouragement for this season and any other. Think about this past year and some things that you would love to conquer by the end of Lenten Season. Allow me to tell you a little about Jesus. He will be the one to see us through this.

Scripture referred to the birth of The Messiah several times. This tells me that Jesus had to be born to come to us yet He is also the preexisting Son of God who is given to us. He was born in time and space in Bethlehem yet the Son has existed from all eternity. Since the government will be on His shoulders He rightly bears the great names ascribed Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, the Everlasting Father, and the Prince of Peace. I had to give a history lesson or this would not serve me well.

He is the light that overcomes darkness, sinless, substitute risen Savior, and reigning King! People today don't give names with a lot of meaning. These names are encouraging and most powerful even when you need help, deliverance, a friend, parent, companion, home, good health, and great provision you can call on His name. If and when you call on these names there is power and trust me He will come and see about you even in a hurry sometimes. Mighty God in the storm, peace and shield in a war, in my busy life, when I am ill, when I am sad, when nothing makes sense, God here I am come see about me.

At the mention of His name Jesus....heal the broken and raise the dead at his name sin heartened men melt, lights of hope put in a hopeless child, hatred and bitterness turned to love and forgiveness. Mothers say His name at the bedside of a child with a fever. We truly experienced this many times during the Pandemic. Emperors have tried to destroy it. Philosophy has tried to stamp it out. Tyrants have tried to wash it from the face of the earth. While the very blood of those who claim it yet it still stands and there shall be that final day when every voice that has ever uttered it shall raise in one mighty chorus to proclaim the mighty name of Jesus. When every knee shall bow and every tongue confess that Jesus is truly Lord it is not mere chance that caused an angel to tell that virgin His name shall be called Jesus. There are so many wonderful things about Jesus. His name is Wonderful. He's a Wonderful Counselor and a Mighty God.

Friends over the next few weeks we will focus on deepening our relationship with God, focus on deleting the reasons we are afraid to say YES to Him wholeheartedly, and embrace all God has already done for us giving us hope for the future. Nothing can stop the Will of God not war, death, disappointment, fear, depression, anxiety, anger, or bitterness. None of these things should distract you from remaining encouraged to see this season through with our God. Again the inspiring Word is He has promised NEVER to leave us.

My Prayer for You:

God we give you honor, we want to do what You say joyfully, forgive us for being doubtful, disobedient, and lazy. Heal us God and sanctify us during this time forever changing our lifestyles. Lord, we magnify You, we give you the glory, You are the God of our spirit and forgive us for complaining. We want to be like You, we don't want to be last, we simply want to run to You and come boldly in this time of Fast and Prayer. Thank You God for being with us and strengthening our YES to Your Will! Jesus, I pray this prayer for my Sister and Brother committed to this time of deeper sanctification. Father, thank You and Amen.
