Be Equally as Wise

Writer's picture: Always GracefulAlways Graceful

Funny, as I was posting this I noticed my last entry was dad's birthday last year 8/11/22. Thinking about him always places me in a creative space. This blog is very timely, few days after his birthday this year! Hilarious to me because I started the first paragraph of this a month ago.

For over 20yrs I have lived with a phrase, I have come to appreciate more and more. It was presented to me by a dear friend during my early years at University of Tennessee at Chattanooga (UTC). Many lessons were lived and learned at the time with love and grace. There was never a dull moment! Each day started and ended with "Moni, be equally as wise, my dear."

Recently that friend and I chose to relive some of those moments through conversation just for great laughter and fun memories. As a result, I must share tips I have acquired along the way.

  • Be honest & upfront! This saves time, livelihoods, and relationships. If you know your dos and don’ts, give them from the start this way no one is left to a guessing game then fail. When being honest you avoid having to recall and regurgitate fables.

  • Be realistic and set boundaries. This metric allows you to free yourself from things you know you can’t handle. Many people think they can be you, do better than you, and so on. Oh, if they just try to put one shoe on, lol! When boundaries are proper the one who will be overwhelmed, overworked, and over it will eventually learn best, a boundary was needed and he/she is not YOU! Oftentimes we do not understand how helpful this type of life can be. #NotSoftYetFulfilled

  • Simplify yet HUSTLE. Get things done as best you can for you and those you are responsible for. Hustle, build, and take things to the next level for growth in every aspect. #GoodStock

Why is this important? Thanks for asking or thinking in that moment. Life can become difficult, painful, and confusing. We are to respond in a certain way, and I say it all the time PRAY! It is hard for some to be equally as wise if they feel God is not close or simply not in their equation. Know this God loves you, fights for you, and will never forsake you! I have faced several pains, troubles, and circumstances in life, yet a blessing has always been in the midst. #ImGracedForThisRace

The word of God is in us, with us, and for us at all times. While I may have been at UTC for the realization of the lessons to start, God was already working. Years after that beginning, God definitely was first in my conversation and thought. Friends laugh today because we could start off on something they may feel simple and secular, yet I have to go spiritual for best resolve. Spend your best time in God and seek His wisdom. There is a way to feel strong and gladden when things are awry, it begins with God. Some days still feel as if there are more problems present than I want to count, yet I manage this pit with Bible and Prayer. Being equally as wise means reading and studying His Word, also praying scripture. Then, apply what is learned, and watch God change the mindset. Friends trust me this is a process. Yet the benefits are spiritually, mentally, and emotionally sound.

When we are equipped with the knowledge of God’s truth, we are transformed to be equally as wise for all matters. Experience the joy of the Lord and His strength always!
